Alexis Papahelas was born in Athens in 1961.

He studied at Bard College and received an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University. He is currently the executive editor of KATHIMERINI, a Greek daily newspaper and the television current affairs program The Files. He is also a member of the Board of ELIAMEP, the preeminent foreign policy think tank of Greece.
