Ambassador Professor Magda Shahin
Magda Shahin is Director of Prince Alwaleed Center for American Studies and Research, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the American University in Cairo. A distinguished diplomat, she brings a wealth of scholarly and professional experience to AUC students and community. Her former embassy posts include Bonn Attache, New York Counselor, Geneva Deputy Chief of Mission, Egyptian Ambassador to Greece, as well as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Economic Relations. Since joining AUC in 2011, she has set about enacting her vision of building cross-cultural connections between Egypt, the United States and the Middle East, and enhancing mutual understanding between cultures by bridging the educational and cultural differences between the West and the Arab World. Her strategies include promoting dialogue, collaboration and educational research partnerships between communities. Her teaching interests include Political Economy, World Trading Systems, International Negotiations, U.S.-Middle East Policy and Relations and Global Issues.
