President (2001-2004) of the International Association of French Speaking Demographers (AIDELF). Coordinator (1998-2006) of the Network “Demobalk”and President since 2007 of the international Association Demobalk. Chevalier de Palmes Academiques of the French Government. Member of several international Census Observation Missions in ex-socialist countries and expert of the European Commission responsible for the re-organization -in the framework of PHARE and CARDS programs- of the Statistical Institutes in the Western Balkan countries. Member of the organizing and scientific committees of several national and international conferences and scientific responsible for the implementation of several research programs financed both by national and international institutions. Editor of the series “Demographic News” and “Discussion Papers” of Ldsa and co-editor of the series “Démographie des Balkans/Balkan Demographic Papers” of Demobalk Association. Author, co-author or editor of books about demographic developments in Greece and the Balkans and of papers, articles and texts in collective volumes which treat issues of demographic policy, migration, fertility-nuptiality, population projections (as well as spatial dimensions of demographic phenomena) in Greece and in the other Balkan countries.
