Thanasis Theocharopoulos is the President of Democratic Left Party (DIMAR), elected in the 4th party’s Conference. He is also Member of Parliament State, through the national elections held in September 2015, and Parliamentary Representative of Democratic Coalition (PASOK-DIMAR). 

He participates in the Democratic Left Party, since its establishment. In the 2nd and the 3rd party’s Conference, he was elected both times as Secretary of Central Committee of Democratic Left Party.

He is an Agriculturist M.Sc. and holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has worked in various Greek and foreign universities and academic institutions, teaching courses in the fields of Agricultural Policy, Rural Development and European Integration. He served as Special Secretary for Community Resources and Infrastructure of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food. His scientific publications include more than 50 papers in international scientific journals, conferences and in chapters of international scientific books.
