Nikolaos Toskas is the Alternate Minister of Interior (in charge of Citizen Protection). He is a graduate of the Hellenic Military Academy, the War School, the National Defense School and the United States Army Armor School. He has served in NATO’s International Military Staff, in the Hellenic Army General Staff and in the National Defense General Staff at operational, intelligence, and defense planning. He retired from military service in March 2005 having the rank of Major General.

From 2006 until 2011 he has worked on defense issues with PASOK and ISTAME. From November 2009 until June 2011 he has served as Director of the Political Office of the Deputy Minister of Defense. From2011 till 2015 he was teaching the course of “Military Strategy” at the Hellenic Military Academy.

As member of the “PRATTO” Political Movement since 2011 he was elected MP with “SYRIZA” in January 2015 national elections. He assumed the office of Deputy Minister of National Defense in January 2015 and in September 2015 he was appointed as Alternate Minister of Citizen Protection.
