Plutarchos Sakellaris
Plutarchos Sakellaris is Professor of Economics and Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business. He served as Vice President of the European Investment Bank (2008-2012) and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers at the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance. He was the Greek representative at the Economic and Financial Committee of the EU and acted as deputy to the Finance Minister at the Eurogroup and ECOFIN Councils, as well as Alternate Governor for Greece at the World Bank.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece and the Hellenic Public Debt Management Agency. He has taught at the University of Maryland, the University of Ioannina and has lectured at several Universities. He has also served as Staff Economist at the Federal Reserve Board and as Visiting Expert at the European Central Bank. He currently serves as Non-Executive Director at various listed and Private Equity - backed companies.
He graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. in Economics and Computer Science, summa cum laude, with Highest Honors. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.
